Japan Approves New Sanctions on Russia Over Ukraine War

by admin477351

Japan’s Cabinet has approved additional sanctions against Russia, targeting groups and individuals linked to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The new measures freeze the assets of 51 groups and 14 individuals, including entities in Russia, eastern and southern Ukraine, as well as other countries accused of destabilizing Ukraine. The decision also includes export bans on 11 groups based in Russia, China, and Turkey.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said the move reflects Japan’s stance against Russia’s continued invasion, stressing that further pressure is necessary as the conflict shows no sign of resolution. This marks Japan’s first new round of sanctions on Moscow since January.
