Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral have agreed to enhance their countries’ bilateral relations and expand cooperation, following a meeting held in Tokyo. The leaders discussed various avenues for collaboration, focusing on economic development, infrastructure, and broadening ties between Japan and Mongolia.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Takaichi expressed appreciation for Mongolia’s support of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific, highlighting Japan’s interest in further developing cooperative efforts with Mongolia. Prime Minister Uchral emphasized that strengthening relations with Japan is a central priority in Mongolia’s foreign policy and reaffirmed his nation’s commitment to deepening cooperation.
A key development from the meeting was the endorsement of an agreement concerning Japanese assistance in expanding Mongolia’s Chinggis Khaan International Airport. This project is expected to enhance Mongolia’s international connectivity, demonstrating the ongoing infrastructure partnership between the two nations.
In recent years, Japan and Mongolia have strengthened their bilateral relationship, notably elevating their ties to a “special strategic partnership for peace and prosperity” in 2022. This latest meeting between the leaders signifies a continued commitment to building on this foundation and exploring new areas of mutual interest and benefit.
