Living Best and the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) have introduced the Living Best Japan Gateway, an initiative aimed at aiding global longevity, agetech, and health-tech companies in entering the Japanese market. This program is designed to facilitate the testing of solutions, the formation of partnerships, and market expansion in Japan. The Gateway will debut at the Kyoto Smart City Expo on October 8-9, 2026, at Keihanna Plaza, where selected companies can showcase their innovations, engage with Japanese corporate partners through ATR’s business-matching network, and potentially join ATR’s KGAP+ business-development accelerator, set to begin a new cohort in December.
Located at Living City Keihanna, a hub for longevity-focused innovation developed by ATR and Living Best, the initiative aims to connect international ventures with Japanese researchers, businesses, investors, care providers, and local communities. This platform promises support beyond initial introductions or short-term pilot projects. Living Best will guide participating ventures in evaluating Japanese market demand, identifying potential partners and funding options, validating products with users, and developing evidence for broader commercial expansion.
Since 2021, Living Best has evaluated over 2,000 ventures from more than 40 countries, generating in excess of 17,000 assessments from Japanese consumers, alongside insights from clinicians, care operators, investors, and policy experts. Dominic Carter, CEO and co-founder of Living Best, highlighted the partnership’s goal of supporting international companies throughout their entry into Japan, from market validation to implementation, funding, and eventual expansion.
Hiroyuki Suzuki, ATR’s Senior Executive Vice President and Representative Director, emphasized Keihanna’s unique combination of research capabilities, infrastructure, and networks spanning industry, academia, government, and local communities as a bridge connecting overseas innovation with practical application in Japan. The Gateway is currently accepting applications from international ventures in longevity, agetech, and health technology with market-ready or advanced development products. Selection will be conducted by Living Best and ATR, with the application deadline for the October 2026 intake set for September 25, 2026.
